Due to popular demand I have further formalized the open source status of the camera access library for OpenCV know so far as cvutils.

It is now known as CamALay (Camera abstraction layer) and available here. The good news for people who asked me about Windows version is that I have worked on this issue during the past weekend and now the bare library (just OpenCV support) compiles in Visual C++ 2008. I am also working on Vapix support for Windows (as that is the feature most people are interested about I guess) but the work is progressing slowly. Contributors are welcome to contact me. If the interest remains I also plan to open a wiki and mailing list for the project.
