A year after ...

A few days ago passed the first year of my current major hobby called “the job”. What were the most prominent characteristics of this time? Well the most noticeable is a continuous lack of free time that manifested in various ways. Let us focus mainly on the effects this shortage had on my blog.

It is pretty obvious that I have barely managed to write anything … and it looks it will just stay that way. When I started my blog I have imagined that I would write about two things: technical stuff that I think someone else will find useful and life abroad. The second topic is somehow impossible at the moment. The first topic would be possible but strangely every time I actually think about writing something there is no sensible challenge. Hopefully this will change … I just have to start recording them …

In the last year I had another idea: I can write about my research. This enthusiasm lasted for a month or two and then I realized this: It is impossible to write about research if one wants to stay in the nice little spot called “State of the Art”. One can only publish (good) results and this is (unfortunately) only possible when one has some of those. I just hope my next year will be a bit better in that aspect.

Another not really related thing. I planned to write another post from Portorož a few days ago but somehow I did not manage to (which is kind of odd because the last week was probably the only week in some time that I actually could take 5 minutes off). I wanted to post the following photo of a carpaccio made of octopus that I had as an appetizer for a fancy sea-food dinner. Yes … I am a vegetarian but I still eat some sea-food. Although after the last week I have enough of it for at least a few months …
