Last.fm - a fine tuned social networking

I actually almost never find any interesting link on my own but I have friends who are more ... well informed. Last.fm is no different. The site exists for like many many years (well definitely for at leas half of a year) so some of you may not consider it as exciting as I do.

What makes Last.fm different than the other social networking sites is the fact that it is actually a kind of community driven Internet radio. Well the content is provided by ... I-don't-know-who (the really nice and more or less addless website also raises the question of where does the money come from) but it is sorted into a giant net by tags created by people who listen to specific songs. The even more social component of the site is of course managing your buddy/friend list. And even here the music component is embedded into users matching. After a week or two of using a specific application (available for Windows, OSX and Linux and even more important open-source :-) ) the site can display you a list of users who have similar taste like you and display you a level of music taste "compatibility" with a specific user ... definitely worth checking out.

(btw: my username is lukacu ;-) )
